Silk was actually born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Silk is the daughter of Peter who was an academic and Ilkay Silk who was a renowned actress and director. She was also a playwright, educator, and Director of Drama at St. Thomas University. Some of Anna's earliest memories included going to rehearsals with her mother and watching her do her job. Silk was featured in a variety of commercials when she was a young child. Silk was a graduate of St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas was active in at least two of the early stage productions, including Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk relocated from Toronto in the month of November 1999, and moved to Los Angeles during the next decade.
